Doctor of Oriental Medicine
My practice is hands on. My approach is based in Classical Chinese Medicine using traditional modalities such as acupuncture, cupping and body work, plus more contemporary modalities such as supplements, diet and lifestyle coaching. I successfully treat a wide variety of ailments and specialize in mental health, pathologies of the lungs and acute pain.
I am an avid outdoors woman and climber and understand the importance of treatment to keep the body at peak performance. My experience struggling with and recovering from a chronic inflammatory disease has helped me better understand the physical and emotional burdens that chronic disease and pain present.
I am a non-practicing Daoist (get the joke?) and I practice what I preach more often than not.
Studies show that the practitioner/patient relationship is the most important factor in healing. Because of this I will be soliciting feedback from you to ensure you are getting the best care.
I am located in Santa Fe, NM on Lena St.
Our bodies are the road maps to what ails us.
In my attempt to best understand what your body needs, we will spend time so I can get acquainted with you and your health history. Please have a complete list of your current medications and supplements when you come in.
Most of the treatments I give incorporate acupuncture and various modalities of body work (gua sha, moxa, cupping, massage etc). I first work to tonify any deficiencies felt in your pulse so that your body is operating with maximum resources before moving Qi and Blood to deal with pain. Tonification is primary. I will be in the treatment room with you for the majority of your treatments.
Non-Insertive needling, Massage, Cupping and other modalities without needles are available.
Our bodies are quite adept at repairing themselves. I use methods that aid that natural ability with modalities like acupuncture, nutrition, PEMF (Pulsed electromagnetic frequency) and physical manipulations, like trigger point therapy, Gua Sha and cupping. Pain is stagnation. Together we can get you moving again.
There is no doubt that health starts at home with the food we eat. Chronic inflammation is the disease of our time. Research shows a proper diet can not only decrease pain from arthritis, headaches, and various GI issues but it can heavily influence our mental health. Ties between sugar consumption and obesity seem obvious but did you know that Anxiety and sugar consumption are also linked?
I offer nutritional counseling, meal planning and home meal preparation to keep you feeling good and moving the way you want to.
Approximately 8% of the US population suffers from Asthma. Having dealt with severe chronic asthma most of my life, I have done extensive research on the topic. I have found alternatives to allopathic medicine that worked very well for me and I want to provide options for others suffering from pathologies of the Lungs. Call for more information on this program.
The seventh-century physician Sun Simiao speaks of the 8 virtues for nurturing life. The first of which is "Right mind/thought/spirit". The health of our bodies is important, equally important is our mental health. Acupuncture and the various modalities of Oriental Medicine simultaneously treat the body, heart and mind.
